Rock Your Pizza in Pizzeria Hard Rock Hotel

Hard Rock Hotel has been a new attraction point for Penangites, especially for those whom are in favour with their selling items of clothes and souvenirs. If you're looking for Italian inspired food, you may consider to drop by the Pizzeria by the poolside.

Preparing on-the-spot, you can see how your Pizza is served by the chef here. I've decided to try out the Pizza Contadinna that is topped with grilled chicken, onion, mushroom and parmagiana cheese. Additionally, I've asked for the Fettuccine Carbonara that comes with the white creamy sauce with mushroom, onion and turkey bacon. I've to be frank that I don't like both of the menu. Starting with the Pizza, the dough is not tasty by itself and the toppings are as well not 'salty' enough to add on deliciousness to the Pizza. I do quite like the creamy sauce of the pasta but disappointingly that the ingredients are not making good match with the Fettuccine. The sauce and the turkey bacon are separating each other whereby the sauce is not absorbed into the tasteless bacon.

I like the sunset view from Hard Rock Hotel and I've indeed enjoyed the moment to sit down and to relax here peacefully. However, it's kind of incomplete without a good Italian Pizza here.

Peri-Peri at Nando's

'Welcome to the best-tasting flame-grilled Peri-Peri chicken in the world!'; Don't forget to visit Nando's if you like grilled chicken and especially if you wish to try out some special sauces. In fact, this is the first time that I've discovered that Nando's is originated from South Africa and they're specializing in preparing chicken dishes either with lemon and herb, mild, hot and extra hot Peri-Peri sauces. It's amazing that the Peri-Peri marinades are absorbed completely into the chicken and the meat itself is tender.

The common order in Nando's will be the Chicken Meals that you can choose to have the 1/4 Chicken or 1/2 Chicken that comes with 2 Sidelines. The sidelines range from chips, coleslaw, corn, bean salad, grilled vegetable to Mediterranean rice to fill up your stomach. I've decided to try out the Chicken Pita with extra hot Peri-Peri sauce. It's really spicy and the taste is burning in the mouth.

Nando's is a new experience to grill chicken and the deliciousness is just unforgettable. The most wonderful taste is still belonged to the variety of Peri-Peri sauces here.

Same Name... L'OSTERIA, Yet in Langkawi

Browsing through the map of Langkawi, I'm attracted by the wording L'OSTERIA Italian Restoran & Bar and we've decided to try out this Italian food that is located at Jalan Pantai Tengah. I'm here with an expectation that I can find the tasty Pizza or Pasta that I've had in Germany.

Attila and I have decided to share two Pizzas; Pizza with Salami and Mushroom and Pizza with Pepperoni, Turkey Ham and Artichokes. Both Pizzas have somehow reminded us about the deliciousness of Italian Pizza back in Europe; the thin and crispy dough with a thin layer of cheese are the best combination that we've missed to have in Penang. I guess the only disappointment is without the Pork Salami. An Italian restaurant is just incomplete without pork.

Still on the journey to search for a Pizza place in Malaysia, that can fulfill our appetite...

Ex Prime Minister in Langkawi

Everyone keeps on whispering to me that I've to visit the bakery by our previous prime minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad if I'm happened to visit Langkawi Island. The wish is finally granted during my visit with my Boyfriend and friends, here I'm introducing The Loaf Bakery & Bistro that is located at Telaga Harbour Park by Pantai Kok.

I'm in fact quite disappointed because I don't find a wide selection of varieties of bread here. I've finally decided to go for their special drink of Cube 60°C. This is The Loaf's signature and unique brewed coffee whereby the Espresso is frozen to -60°C to concentrate the taste of the blended coffee beans. Then, being poured with hot milk to let the Espresso ice cube to be dissolved slowly; this is the method to enjoy the richness of the coffee in a milky way.

Additionally, I've tried the Cheese Cupcakes here. The surprise that I've from Cube 60°C is somehow destroyed by the dry and fluffy cheese cake. The cake is as well tasteless without the aroma and tastiness of cheese inside.

Melting Myself in Summer

One of the greatest thing about Summer in Regensburg is to treat myself to a cone or a cup or a glass of ice. The hot Summer with the cold ice, this is a perfect combination to indulge myself into the satisfaction of taste bud. You can easily spot an ice shop along any roads or streets that you can choose from. An ice shop is not selling ice-cream or gelato only, but you can find as well other products such as yogurt or coffee.

Standing in front of the ice shops, I'm confused and I'm wondering... Oh mine, which flavours that I should take? Either with natural flavours that you can choose from the counter, to add on additional toppings such as fruits and nuts or to mix yogurt with ice, you can as well ask for liquor in your ice gelato. Exploring into the world of ice yet there has been too many...

Mixed nuts ice at Gelini Café Gelateria...

Amaretto ice at Eis Paradise...

Kirsch Joghurt at Eiscafé Bar Rossi...

Sommer Traum at Eis am Dom...

Regardless of the ice shops, I'm personally fancy at the yogurt and the naturally flavoured scoop ice that I can obtain in cone.

On the Fire; Grill Schmankerl of the Schwenkgrill Spezialitäten

Grill Schmankerl or the Schwenkgrill Spezialitäten is where you can buy the Bratwurst or Brötchen that are grilled on the beech wood fire. Charcoal is sometimes being used as well. Schwenkgrill somehow means the tripod-alike structure that is being setup to grill the sausages or bread rolls while using the beech wood is considered as an important part in the grilling process.

Here in Deggendorf Volksfest, I've decided to treat myself to a Bratwurst Semmel. The sausages that have been pre-grilled are then being heated on the fire before serving. I've chosen to have the Handlmaier sweet mustard to go with my Bratwurst. The sausages are tender and the beech wood has left behind the nice aroma in my mouth.

Do take chance to try out the Bratwurst from different towns, restaurants or stalls in Germany. Anyway, the most unforgettable taste is still belonged to the ancient kitchen by Steiner Brücke in Regensburg.

Spelling in Prague 'Restaurace Malostranska Beseda'

It's my dream to visit Prague and I've finally made it as 1-Day trip with Susanne and friends. I'm fully satisfied that I've finally able to view myself, the beautiful architectures and buildings in Prague. One of my favourite is the Astronomical Clock that does the astronomical 'things' such as showing us the date and time. I've not waited there to see and to learn how does it happen but I've indeed surprised myself with this amazing clock.

Wandering around the city, we've chosen Malostranska Beseda Restaurant for our lunch. I've ordered the Piquant Beef Goulash prepared in Light Beer with Farmer's Bread. The meat is soft and tender except that the saltiness is somehow not sufficient to enhance the deliciousness of the soup. The compact texture of the Farmer's Bread is a suitable match to absorb the soupy Goulash.

One of the biggest surprise is the Mint Tea that is served with the fresh mint leaves. The taste of the mint is very refreshing and the aroma has definitely won over my attention.

I'm quite satisfied with the meal here, if it's not because of the bad attitude from the waitress. She has somehow been arrogant and ignorant...

Themed Cafe Restaurant, Chaplin

What do you know about Chaplin? In my memory, he's the speechless guy on the old time black and white television screen whom is funny and makes me laugh. By Adolf-Schmetzer-Straße in Regensburg, here is located the CHAPLIN Cafe Restaurant. I'm attracted by the tables and chairs that are placed outside the restaurant whereby the wide area seems so comfortable to sit down for a relaxing drink. Moreover, you can choose to take the beer garden behind the restaurant if you wish for a more quiet surrounding.

Randomly, I've asked for the Großes Baguette mit Salatgarnitur. I've picked the choice of mit Leerdamer, Schinken und Tomaten (aus Wunsch überbacken) whereby the baguette is served with cheese, ham and tomato that I can ask as cold sandwich or freshly hot-baked from oven. I've indeed enjoyed the baguette because I've never expected such deliciousness from the simple ingredients. Every single bites of the cheese, ham or tomato tastes so refreshing.

Even though I like the baguette here, but CHAPLIN is not so special that I've expected. This themed cafe doesn't show much elements or characters about CHAPLIN that I can really appreciate here.

Searching for Asiatische Taste in Regensburg

Have you ever wondered about the taste of Asian food in Germany? Chinese? Indian?

Towards my curiosity, I've decided to visit Ganesha Indisches Restaurant Bar that is located at Maximilianstraße, so-called the best Indisches Küche in Regensburg. The restaurant seems warm and peaceful with the dim lighting. What is lack of in Bayerische food? Spiciness... I've decided to go for the most spicy menu of Vindaloo Chicken that is served with Basmati Rice. The spiciness is somehow not as high as I'm expecting. The sauce with some sliced ginger, it's delicious and very refreshing but I feel disappointed that the sauce is not absorbed into the chicken meat. The aroma of the spicy Vindaloo sauce is in the air but it's not united with the meat itself. Besides, the Basmati Rice is a little hard for me whereby I prefer to have it to be softer.

Further exploring into Asiatische food, I've as well visited the Rambutan Thai Restaurant that is located at Maximilianstraße. I can't recall correctly but I think I've ordered the Gang Kiow Wan Pad or in-short, the crispy duck in curry sauce that is served with bamboo shoots, capsicums and green beans. The slices of duck are just the perfect combination of crispy skin with the soft meat that are not smelly. I've to admit that the curry sauce is a little bit watery and without the strong aroma of herbs that I do like always but the curry still tastes fine.

On the recommendation from my friends, I've decided to drop by Die Perle Asiens China Restaurant at Gewerbepark. The decorations inside the restaurant are very elegant and beautiful, with some senses of Chinese antiques. Flipping towards and backwards of the menu, I've finally asked for the Gebratene Reisnudeln in Singapur Art. This plate of rice noodles is fried with mixed vegetables and slices of meat, then garnished with prawn crackers per serving. I'm in deep disappointment because the noodle is very salty and dry while the prawn crackers are not crispy. I'm wondering what has gone wrong because every of my M'sian friends have given good comments about Die Perle Asiens. I'm sad as the noodles taste really bad.

Don't put high expectations if you're visiting Asian restaurants in Regensburg. The food may look alike, smell alike yet the taste is in fact not as real as the Asian food that you can have in Malaysia.
