Enjoying the Breakfast at the Wurm Backery

On the way from Sünching to Regensburg, we've enjoyed our journey through the nice scenery of the big farms and greenish fields. This bakery stands up outstandingly among the village houses at the Geisling. It's called the Wurm Stadtbäcker or the "wormy city baker". We've decided to stop by for a breakfast before continuing our drive into the town.

Attila has taken the Salami Baguette and a Pretzel while I've decided to go for the Kornspitz. The Baguette is filled with thin slices of dried pork sausage, just a nice portion of protein for Attila. Pretzel is the ribbon-shaped bread that is brownish at the outer layer and it's then topped with the salt granules. Kornspitz is a multigrain bread that is hard and you need definitely your strong teeth to chew it thoroughly.

I like the idea that the tea is served together with a hourglass. You can know the exact minutes that the tea bag should stay inside the cup of hot water. Nothing special to be talked about my cup of black coffee, it's quite thin indeed.

They're serving moderate breakfast here. The taste wise and the price range are considered in the normal range. We've indulged into the quietness and peacefulness of the surrounding. I've enjoyed the photo snapping activity around this area, capturing down the photographs of the beautiful flowers that have bloomed during the Summer time.

Leberkäse... I just Can't Resist the Temptation!

Leberkäse is a specialty that can only be found at the Southern of Germany. I can never resist the temptation towards this delicious meat loaf. It's made of the blended beef together with the pork and being seasoned with spices, that is then baked as the bread loaf. The warm Leberkäse is a common snack to-go that can be easily purchased at most of the bakeries or from any food stall that is located inside the grocery market and by the street.

Attila has promised me a delicious Leberkäse that I'll never regret... We've visited the small butchery market that is located in front of the Pension Deutsch or Gasthof Deutsch that is located at the Neutraubling by Regensburg. We've ordered the Leberkäse Semmel that is a meat loaf bun. According to Attila, the meat loaf is handmade by the butchery master here whereby I find that the Leberkäse is very special with the plenty of holes and circular lines. The Leberkäse is very tender and juicy while the senf has added a slight spiciness to enhance the deliciousness of this sliced meat loaf. I'm completely indulged into the tastiness of the Leberkäse that I wish to have another slice of meat loaf only with senf.

I'm yet to find a delicious Leberkäse in Penang. This is the reason that I've always wanted to try a piece of Leberkäse, at least for once whenever I'm in Germany.

It Looks Alike a Big Warehouse... the Macallum

Gathering night with the girls, we've decided to try out the Macallum that is located at the Gat Lebuh Macallum. We've almost missed out the entrance that we've to make a big U-turn due to the one-way road because the Macallum looks indeed alike a big warehouse.

This is a self-service cafe and restaurant that you've to place your orders at the counter that is located at the center of this big house. I've tried out the Hot Long Black Coffee here. I dislike their own roasted coffee beans as the coffee tastes too sour. Phui Yee dislikes her cup of Cappuccino neither whereby the foamy milk is not able to cover up the strong sourness of the coffee.

We've decided to take the Smoked Duck Salad with Zesty Dressing as the starter. Every thinly sliced duck meat is very tender and it goes well with the fresh greens that have been topped with the honey lemon sauce. The sweetness of the honey has balanced up the sourness of the lemon whereby the taste is just nice especially for anyone that dislikes sourness yet is looking for a refreshing sauce. It's just slightly too dry that we've asked for more dressing indeed.

We've also decided to share 4 dishes that range from the Aglio e Olio with the Pork Bacon, the Macallum's Coffee Spaghetti, the Classic Grilled Chicken to the Smoked Duck Breast. The Aglio e Olio Spaghetti that has been sauteed with the garlic and the dried chili is delicious except the caper whereby I find that its taste is not suitable for the pasta. The coffee spaghetti is not only smells good but it's also tasty despite the slight bitterness of the caffeine. The creaminess has reduced slightly the strong taste of the coffee that I'm not really aware that this is actually a combination of pasta with the coffee yet I'm amazed completely by this dish. The sauce goes well with the chorizo or the pork sausage but the minced meat is slightly too hard. The chicken breast meat is slightly burnt that it has a crusty outer layer. The meat has been seasoned with sufficient saltiness that it matches either the passion fruit or the avocado spread. Everything is just perfect in this plate except the dry and hard toast. Lastly, we've decided for another duck dish that is topped with the red wine sauce. The whole duck breast meat is succulent and it has a nice smoky smell. It's disappointing that the red wine sauce is over sweetened that it doesn't go well with the meat.

Ending the dinner with a bottle of the Kopparberg Cider with Elderflower & Lime. I love it deeply! It's refreshing and this cider is not too sweet as any other brands that I've known of. Elaine has decided to try out their homemade cold brew. The bottle is opened and the nice aroma of the coffee is released; without the sourness that we dislike at the hot coffee except that it tastes too "empty" at the end of the tongue.

The Paris at the Cest La Vie

Looking for our dinner around the Queensbay and Summerton area, we've chosen the Cest La Vie by random options. The man-made field on the floor, the plenty of sticky notepads on the wall and the French words; this café & restaurant is indeed filled with nature and comfort. The whitish chairs and the bright lighting are somehow not creating the romance here.

I've decided to go for the set dinner of Grill Chicken Bagel with Cheese and Fries that comes with a soup, drink and ice-cream. The tomato soup tastes weird and it has been over seasoned with the pepper. Besides, I dislike the whitish granules that has not been blended well into the soup. For the main course, the bagel has been slightly over burnt that the top is indeed blackish and it's too crunchy. Luckily that the chicken meat is very juicy and I've enjoyed the special sauce that is not too creamy and the saltiness is just nice for the meat.

Attila has chosen the Pork Chop in Mushroom Sauce from the a-la cart menu. The pork meat is very tender and the topping sauce is really delicious. The 1st dip of the sauce tastes weird as the Chef has torched the sauce before serving, you can see the blackish dots on the whitish sauce. We both are not fancy over the cold mashed potatoes indeed.

I've taken the hot honey green tea while Attila has tried out a special bottled drink of soda that is called Grapefruit & Chamomile. This is my 1st time to know this brand "Tapping Tapir" and it tastes real refreshing.

I'm a little disappointed that the food is kind of cold while it's served to us yet the taste is totally good and delicious. We'll definitely try out the other menu again.

Blackwood or the "Kayu Hitam"

Leaving from Hatyai through the immigration at Bukit Kayu Hitam, I've suggested the idea about having our break for coffee and lunch at the Blackwood Coffee & Chocolate that is located at Changlun. This restaurant is just in front of the Kompleks Changlun. I'm at first attracted by the outlook of the restaurant, it's just too "outstanding" compared to the outskirt where it's located.

We've shared the Big Breakfast and the Signature Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang. The breakfast set comes with the fried sausage, scrambled egg, baked beans, sauteed button mushroom, baked tomato, wheat toast and some greens. I like the sausage as it's very succulent and it has sufficient saltiness to be delicious on its own, without any dipping sauce. The scrambled egg is just too buttery and I think the sugar has been added as it tastes indeed sweet. I've indulged completely into my plate of the coconut milk rice with chicken that is cooked in a thick curry gravy. The rice has a nice aroma while the chicken is so juicy and tender that it's ripped off from the bone easily. The thick Rendang sauce is just superb, with sufficient spiciness and deliciousness to stimulate my tastebud.

The coffee is just too thin and it doesn't have a nice aroma of the coffee beans.

I'm very satisfied with my food here. I think this will be my stop-by destination, on my way back from Hatyai in the future.
